Human Geography affects civil rights in Singapore by creating a sense of freedom from the growth of the economy that with growth comes change, in order for the government to maintain control the enforce strict rules and punishments for criminals.
Our topic relates to the geographic concept of place because the way humans run their lives is dictated by the govening body, and the way your live changes with where you live.
Civil rights represents how you live when you are somewhere as to what you can and can't do. People can use our topic to understand what is like in the world where governments try to maintain control no matter what.

ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of human right abuses in Vietnam because the government is also strictly controlling the citizens and prevent them from doing things such as religious activities. Also like the unfair punishment in Singapore, the Vietnamese government has unfairly treated the people in Vietnam for not complying with the strict rule. Even if the people haven't done anything violent the government will still abuse their rights and punish them unfairly.

This also reminds me of China's government and how they continue to exert absolute control over politics, and is often creates “threats” to maintain stability of the country through excessive use of force and authority. They have also punished their citizens unfairly by improsoning people.

I agree China and Vietnam have just as much control over their subject as Singapore does to their citizens. They have used excessive force in order to maintain control from "threats."
